The Red Devils: players

Why do I want you to read my blog?

Because the World Cup of 2014 in Brazil is coming up…
And the Belgian squad is one you can't ignore, because we have a young group with a lot of talent.

I'll teach you the names of our Belgian squad (in this picture and the ones who are selected), so you can remember us in 2014 and hopefully in 2016 for the World Cup and the European Cup!

From left to right: Thibaut Courtois, Marouane Fellainie, Christian Benteke, Axel Witsel, Daniel Vanbuyten and Vincent Kompany

From left to right: Kevin Mirallas, Toby Alderweireld, Kevin De Bruyne, Nacer Chadli and Jan Vertonghen
(The other ones who are part of The Red Devils: Laurent Ciman, Eden Hazard, Dries Mertens, Thomas Meunier, Romelu Lukaku, Sébastien Pocognoli, Jelle Vossen, Thomas Vermaelen, Radja Nainggolan, Simon Mignolet, Moussa Dembélé, Steven Defour andTimmy Simons).

One of our greatest strengths is that we don't really have that much pressure like big national teams who are expected to end in the quarter or semifinals. Like for instance Spain, Argentina, Germany, The Netherlands, Portugal,…
So our squad can play with less pressure because we know it's a young squad and we still have to gain experience with our Red Devils.
In this way it's very important for our players to create a better team spirit and to test themselves against other big national teams.

A lot of people say our team will be much more evolved and more prepared in 2016 for the European Cup in France. So let's hope we can gain a lot of experience and build team spirit to use in 2016 to became European Champion!

Thank you for reading my blog!

The Red Devils: Vincent Kompany

Vincent 'man of glass' Kompany is the captain of the belgian squad.

The greatest thing about Kompany -outside the fact that he's a great soccer player- is that he's a very humble and modest person. He stays with his both feet on the ground and always sees the bigger picture and he doesn't take anything for granted.
This is one of the most important things he learnt when we was little, because when he was a little boy he lived in poverty.
When he was 8 years old he was discovered by RSC Anderlecht, where his soccer career began.
When he was 17 he played his first game in the Jupiler Pro League (the Belgian soccer league).
The same year he was nominated for 'Young soccer player of the year' in the Jupiler Pro League.
When he was 20 he went to Hamburger SV for 10,5 million euros.
2 years later he had to go to another team( because he had been injured a lot, hence his nickname 'the man of glass') and he went to Manchester City for 7-8 million euros. And he has been playing there ever since.
While playing for Manchester City he won some prices like a few nominations in the 'PFA Team of the Year' and chosen to be the best player of the year for Manchester City.
These prices only confirm that Vince the Prince is one of the top defenders in the world.

But not only for teams as Manchester City, but also for the Red Devils he's very important!
He played his first game for the Belgian squad also when he was 17 years old. And has been one of the most talented and most valued players of our Belgian squad ever since.

The Red Devils: Thibaut Courtois

Thibaut Courtois

Thibaut is a Belgian goalkeeper who started his career as a goalkeeper in KRC Genk (Footballclub in Belgium).
In 2011 Courtois became property of Chelsea FC.
In stead of playing for Chelsea, Atlético Madrid took him on loan from Chelsea.
Courtois would stay in Atlético util 2013, but he could stay another year from his new coach José Mourinho.

Courtois was the youngest goalkeeper ever for Belgium. He made his debute in a friendly match against France, when he was only 19 years old.

With Thibaut Courtois, Simon Mignolet and Koen Casteels the Belgian squad doesn't have a problem anymore in the goalkeeper area. Now there is some good friendly competition between them. But with Marc Wilmots as coach Thibaut Courtois became first keeper before Simon Mignolet.

Red Devils : Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin De Bruyne
In Januray 2012 Kevin signed a contract for Chelsea, but had to go on loan to play with Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga in Germany.
This year, in 2013, Chelsea FC made a change.
They got rid off their Spanish coach 'Rafael Benitez' to get one of their previous coaches back. The coach who had as nickname 'The Special one' (in 2012-2013 coach of Real Madrid).José Mourinho was back in control. The idea of José Mourinho was to get De Bruyne (and also Romelu Lukaku) back and let them participate at their pre-season tour of Asia.In this pre-season De Bruyne played remarkable, but when the the Premier League (the competition) started De Bruyne took more and more place at the bench or even in the stadium to watch the game instead of participating in it.Now De Bruyne is one of the players at Chelsea FC who doesn't really get the chance anymore to prove him on the pitch.

Now, for his career as a Red Devil this is not a perfect situation. Because if he wants to play with the Red Devils, he first has to gain match experience. So I think the best solution for De Bruyne will be to go on loan to a club in the Bundesliga like Wolfsburg for instance.
