The Red Devils

Friday eleven october The Belgian squad of football also known as The Red Devils have nominated themselves for the World Cup of 2014 in Brasil.
This is a high achievement for the players and the staff because it was 12 years ago that The Red Devils have entered a big championship. An interesting fact was that the last man who scored in their last big championship was the man who is now the coach, Marc Wilmots.
Wilmots became first coach of the quad after being for a long time the assistant. Because of the poor results and the offers for an other football club, the previous coaches George Leekens and Dick Advocaat left The Red Devils.
So we needed a new coach, and it were the players of the squad who wanted to give their assistant-coach a try. And it looks like it paid of quit good.

Our belgian squad is not just an average team, we have players who are very important for very big clubs. In fact there are only a few players from the belgian squad who actually still play in the jupiler pro league (the competition in Belgium).
Like for instance our first goalkeeper is also the first goalkeeper in Athletico Madrid, a team that was 3th last year in the Primera Division.
And our second goalkeeper now is the first goalkeeper of Liverpool (who at this moment is first in Barclays Premier League.
Talking about defenders, our captain Vincent Kompany was elected best player in the Barclays Premier League last season.
Our midfielder Marouaine Felliani was transferred to Manchester United this season. An English squad that has won various championships.
So we can say we have a squad who can get far in a cup, that's great because it has been a long time that we did well in a cup.
Let us just hope to play a great world cup next year !
