‘Yesterday is history, today is a gift, tomorrow is a mystery’
This great fair tale started in 2005 organized by the original founders, the Belgian brothers Beers.
The first edition already started with some top DJs like Armin Van Buuren en Coone.
As the event went further and bigger, the number of top DJs increased with world known DJs as David Guetta, Swedish House Maffia, Dada Life, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Avicii, Tiësto, Martin Solveig, Hardwell, and the list goes on and on…
I was very excited to go because first of all it was my dream since I was 16 years old to go (but you have to be at least 18 years old before you are allowed in).
Second of all it’s very hard to get tickets. And last but not least it was the last year that Swedish House Maffia went to the festival before they split up.
Entering the main gate of the festival is a great experience!
Not only the remarkable main stage and other stages are very impressive, but also the various of nationalities you see there are immense. I was very surprised to see how much different nationalities came to the festival. But of course it’s a world known festival and it has been voted for the best festival in the world in 2012.
I know your feeling Ward, it was my third time i've worked over there and it's an awesome experience. The atmosphere, the many nationalities, the decoration, just everything. ID&T has taught about everything and they are properly the best dance festival in the world. But i truly think it's a little overrated, it's a very good festival, but it has become too commercial and the belgians have some disadvantages from this (par example: the difficult ticketsales). It should not hurt the festival when they will not win the award for best dance festival this year! There are also many other good festivals in the world, like "Ultra" and i think at this point that the festival is already too well known!
